UN security council unanimously approves US-drafted sanctions after North Korea’s latest ballistic missile launch.
Last month North Korea launched an intercontinental ballistic missile on November 29 that has the capability to reach Washington.
The new sanctions adopted by UN includes sharply lower limits on North Korea’s oil imports, the return home of all North Koreans working overseas within 24 months.
The resolution also bans exports of industrial equipment, machinery, transportation vehicles and industrial metals to North Korea.
Overwhelmed by the response US President said the world needs peace and not death.
“The United Nations Security Council just voted 15-0 in favor of additional Sanctions on North Korea. The World wants Peace, not Death!” – Trump said in a tweet.
Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the UN praised the member’s decision and said the US will continue to march against North Korea’s Aggression.
“UN had repeatedly offered Pyongyang a choice and repeatedly, in its continued missile tests, the regime had “chosen the path of isolation.”– she said.
“we will continue to match the Kim regime’s choice of aggressive action with actions of international sanctions.”– she added.
